Vanna like her half sister, April is one of our smaller mares out of Jamaica, one of our Buck Echo grand-daughters. Vanna is 5th generation for us as we have her dam Jamaica, grand-dam Calypso, great-granddam, Mardi Gras and great-great granddam Callita here. Her sire is a compact and correct black and white pinto with blue eyes, Quicksilver bred stallion going back to Bronco Billy.

Vanna's name come from the fact we were rushing her dam to UC Davis with a dystocia at 3 a.m., when Jamaica decided giving birth in the van (our white van) was a better option for her.

Vanna apparently enjoyed the ride so much she insisted on poking both her eyes out at four months of age, and was back in UC Davis for an eye removal. We did manage to save her second eye, although her eyelid was stitched closed except for a little peep hole, and she was confined and medicated for six weeks.

Vanna may be bred in 2014 at the earliest accounting for her size and finding the right refined stallion for her.
